Veteran’s Day Deals in East Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, TN. (WVLT) — Veteran’s Day is November 11, and local restaurants and businesses are offering free or discounted items in support of past and current military men and women. Here’s a list of some of the best places for veterans to visit:


On Veterans Day, all Knoxville Shoney’s are giving veterans free breakfast at their breakfast bar from 6 a.m. until 11 a.m. This special is for dine-in only. No purchase is necessary.

Red Robin
The Red Robin in Turkey Creek is giving away a free Red’s Tavern Double burger with bottomless steak fries to all veterans on Veteran’s Day. The Tavern Burger is two fire-grilled beef patties topped with melted American cheese, and a house-made Red’s secret tavern sauce. Veterans must bring proof of service to receive the meal.

Texas Road House
Veterans can choose one of 10 entrees, including a 6-ounce sirloin and two made-from-scratch sides plus a choice of any Coca-Cola product, sweet tea/ice tea or coffee for free from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Veterans Day. Proof of service must be shown at the door. The following restaurants will be offering this deal:

Golden Corral
On Monday Nov. 13, from 5 until 9 p.m., veterans can get a free meal at Golden Corral. The offer is for dine-in only.

Red Lobster
Red Lobster is offering one free appetizer or dessert for all former and active military on Veteran’s Day. Make sure to bring your military ID.
The special menu for veterans includes:

Quaker Steak & Lube
Veterans can choose one of several meal options for free on Veteran’s Day. The meals include wings, house pulled pork sandwich, ‘Pick Ur Cheese’ burger, a salad, or a mac and cheese bowl. Military personnel can either wear their uniform or bring their military IDs to get this special.

The Quaker Steak & Lube on Kingston Pike is also honoring fallen soldiers by setting up a Fallen Soldier Table. This table will be set with a white table cloth signifying soldiers’ pure intentions in the call to serve. On the table will be a single red rose in a vase, which represents the blood shed for freedom. A slice of lemon will be placed on a plate to symbolize the bitter fate of all fallen soldiers. A salt shaker on the table will represent the tears shed by the families of those who never came home, and a glass will be placed upside down, signifying the fallen will no longer take a drink. Finally, one empty chair will be placed at the table. The table will provide an opportunity to remember those who have sacrificed their life for their country.

Back Yard Burgers
Back Yard Burgers is offering free classic burgers for veterans and active duty service men and women in uniform or with a valid ID on Saturday, Nov. 11. The offer will be available at all Back Yard Burgers locations.

Local businesses

Main EventMain Event is letting veterans get in touch with their fun side on Nov. 11 by letting them play games and eat for free from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. The special includes a $10 FUNcard and one free entrée from a special Veterans Day menu which includes:
Grilled Top Sirloin with fries
Teriyaki Salmon
Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich
Cobb Salad
Bacon Cheddar Burger with fries
Wings with fries
Chicken Tenders with fries

Dixie Stampede
On Nov. 9, Dixie Stampede is hosting a free lunch and show for veterans. Before the event, guest speaker and former Miss America Heather Henry will be speaking, and veterans will have a chance to talk to other military men and women. Check in is at 9:30 a.m. for veterans, and the program will start around 11:15 a.m.

Family members and all others are welcome to come for $15, but advance registration is required for both veterans and non-veterans.

Sequoyah Dental Arts
Sequoyah Dental Arts is giving free exams, cleanings, extractions, fillings, and 50 percent off discount on dentures and partials for veterans. This special is featured for the entire month of November. Appointments are required to receive this offer, and all military personnel must bring either a military ID or DD-214.

American Family Care
It’s flu season, so the American Family Care is helping veterans by giving out free flu shots all day on Veterans Day.

Westgate Resorts
Westgate Resorts are giving out 1,500 free vacations for veterans and their families. This year, the program is offering two exclusive weekends for them to choose in either Orlando or Las Vegas. Starting at 9 a.m. EST on Nov. 10, the first 1,500 people to complete the online military appreciation form online and place a fully refundable $100 deposit can sign up for either one of 1,400 complimentary four-day, three-night vacations for up to four people at Westgate Town Center Resort & Spa, May 3-6, 2018, or one of 100 three-day, two-night vacations for up to two people at Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, December 8-10, 2017. The vacations are for current military and their families only. Westgate Resorts will also offer a special 25 percent savings for rooms of 27 resort destinations for all U.S. military veterans valid for travel by Nov 10, 2018.

Dollar General
Dollar General is giving an 11 percent discount in stores or online for veterans and their family members on Veteran’s Day. The code for online purchases is VET17.

Car Wash
Various car wash places are offering free car washes all day on Veteran’s Day. For a list of all the car washes in Knoxville that are participating visit the complete list online.

Sports Clips
Sports Clips locations are offering veterans free haircuts all day on Veteran’s Day with proof of service.

Great Clips
Great Clips is also offering free haircuts to veterans, but they are also giving customers a free haircut card to military personnel. Veterans can save the card for a future free haircut, which is good until Dec. 31 2017.

Home Depot
Home Depot is giving veterans 10 percent off purchases on Veteran’s Day. Veteran’s can also receive 10 percent off on Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day.

Lowe’s is offering 10 percent off on Veteran’s Day, but this year, the company is also offering something special for veterans:10 percent off every day of the year.

Military personnel and their families can receive a 10 percent discount at Publix on Veteran’s Day. Proof of service is required at check out.
